Section 21.4: Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)

The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) is a tool used to screen adult client for cognitive impairment. It examines cognition across seven domains: executive/visuospatial function, naming, attention, language, abstraction, recall, and orientation. Maximum score = 30. Normal = 26-30. Mild cognitive impairment = 18-25. Moderate cognitive impairment = 10-17. Severe cognitive impairment = under 10 points. Brief summaries of the MoCA may be found by following this link and this link.
